2022 Season Kicks Off at 1757 Golf Club

WCGA Board Member Kaity Wolfe goes long with her tee shot

WCGA’s 2022 golf season officially kicked off April 24 at 1757 Golf Club with 19 ladies joining in. It was a beautiful day for golf with blue skies and sunshine. Note to self: put sunscreen in golf bag. This is a long course with lots of water hazards, so we all lost a few – or many – balls.

There might have been as many bunkers as ponds, so we got some practice in the sand, too. No one seemed to mind. Players of all levels did great out here, including those who are beginning golfers.

The course was full of urban wildlife - turtles sunning themselves near the water and a blue heron in the marsh grass. Colorful wildflowers added to the scenic views. We hit the driving range to warm up, enjoyed our drink tickets (range and a beverage were included with the greens fee), and relaxed on the patio after golf. The Café makes a great Bloody Mary! Special thanks to Ann Warner for planning this successful outing.

If you haven’t golfed with WCGA, join in! You just register and show up―all the planning is done for you. The Sunday Virginia League begins May 1 at Pinecrest Golf Course. The event schedule includes weekend courses in Maryland and Virginia, along with clinics and post-golf gatherings. Sharing a ride is easy, too, by connecting with those going.

Check out the schedule and events are being added for the summer and fall. There also are terrific weekend golf trips, so look at those as well. Spouses, significant others, and friends are welcome.

WCGA is for golfers of all skill levels, and the friendships, camaraderie, and networking cannot be topped … in addition to improving our games and being outdoors in beautiful settings.

Kristen, Nora, Iris, and Kathy encouraged each other and had fun playing together
