Fall Weekend in Charlottesville

kristenobaranec

Members of Women’s Congressional Golf Association enjoyed a terrific weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Boar’s Head Resort offered a welcoming ‘home away from home’ with fantastic golf, wonderful cheers, meals, and bar bites, surrounded by splendid fall colors! The weather was perfect for outdoor relaxing, sitting around the firepit, and walking on the many trails.

Birdwood’s gplf pro Hunter Brown offered a short game clinic, then we practiced on a 6-hole, par-3 course called The Nest. It was a perfect warm-up for the weekend. The Birdwood course was interesting, challenging and fun. It is a newly-redesigned course, a top 10 in Virginia, and home to the UVA golf teams. It includes an 18-hole putting course on more than one acre

Farmington Country Club offered another challenging round where all players met their match with combinations of steep fairway inclines and tricky approaches to the greens. We enjoyed visiting historic sites such as Michie Tavern and the surrounding Virginia Wine Country including Early Mountain Winery.

Be on the lookout for 2023 as WCGA plans for another golf season filled with clinics, outings, weekend get aways, and social gatherings!
