Still the Sweetest Place to Golf

It was a wonderful WCGA weekend in Hershey, Pa.! We arrived Friday afternoon and played 9 holes on the East Course at Hershey Country Club. It was a good warmup for Saturday. This course is a little more open and forgiving, and it has gorgeous views of the area. After golf we enjoyed dinner on the patio at the club - good company, good food, and perhaps a few beverages, also.

We had Saturday morning tee times for 18 holes on the East Course, then the afternoon to enjoy the spa, venture into town or through the gardens, or just relax. The Hershey Hotel is a lovely historic hotel. And, nothing better than free chocolate bars when you check in! We dined at the Harvest Restaurant Saturday evening and then spent some time at the firepit, making s'mores ... and trying to explain their appeal to Jeanne.

The West Course (9 holes) was our Sunday experience. It is a more difficult course but we were up to the challenge. Hole 5 is the signature hole which plays into the front yard of High Point, the Milton Hershey mansion. This 176-yard par 3 requires accuracy to avoid the bunkers and has a severely sloping green.

There were three 'guests' of WCGA members on this trip - Susan from Colorado, Jeanne from New York, and Audrey from South Carolina. By dinner on the first night, everyone was a WCGA friend and golfer. Special thanks to Sally for organizing such a terrific start to the 2023 golf season and for making sure we had good golf weather!
