WCGA Goes to Baltimore

In early August, our Women’s Congressional Golf Association (WCGA) golfers traveled north to Timonium, Baltimore for our 3rd annual golf clinic led by Baltimore Golf Academy Golf Professional, Coach Julieta Stack (Coach J) and a round of golf at the bucolic and challenging, Pine Ridge Golf Course. Following a great day of golf, WCGA caravanned to Annapolis for crabs and other seafood delights along the South River at Mike’s Crab House.

This year’s golf clinic kicked off with stretching and strengthening exercises led by Coach J. Coach J encouraged and challenged our WCGA golfers to try to incorporate these exercises into our daily routines even if golf is not on our schedule. Following the warmup, this year’s clinic included stations with several golf professionals leading including Coach J which focused on all aspects of our golf game including conquering ‘uneven ball lies’, pitching and chipping.

The clinic annual highlight was individual coaching from Coach J on our tee shots including video taping of each golfer’s tee shots followed by Coach J’s individual expert guidance and golf advice. Many WCGA golfers noted the immediate improvement in distance and direction of their tee shots resulting from Coach J’s assistance during the golf clinic. This golf clinic is always a highlight of our WCGA golf season, and we are so thankful to Coach J and her team for providing expert golf instruction that we could then apply just 30 minutes later when we started our Pine Ridge golf rounds.

Following the amazing golf clinic, the WCGA golfers were treated to a festive lunch including delicious homemade shrimp salad and chocolate chip cookies. We were so thankful for the expert chefs and staff at Pine Ridge that prepared the lunch and got us ready for our afternoon on the links. Throughout lunch, our WCGA golfers chatted about the clinic sharing lessons they learned while also meeting their golf partners for the afternoon golf round.

Under sunny skies, the WCGA golfers teed off and played nine holes at Pine Ridge which is a beautiful course set amidst trees and water. Using the golf advice and insight from the morning clinic, many WCGA golfers posted record scores and we had several pars and birdies in every foursome! We just wish that Coach J and the Baltimore Golf Academy was closer to DC, so we could take additional golf lessons and clinics!

Following our great day of golf, we celebrated golf and a beautiful summer evening in Annapolis with crabs and related Maryland seafood at Mike’s Crab House. Golf is what connects our WCGA members, but we continue to help build and grow relationships amongst our members; both on and off the course! WCGA is excited to help foster opportunities for our bipartisan members to work together and enjoy having fun together too! Join us as a WCGA member and we will see you on and off the green!
