The weekend before Memorial Day, Women’s Congressional Golf Association (WCGA) golfers traveled to Hershey, PA to stay at Hotel Hershey and play at the Hershey Country Club about two hours north of DC. The first night, just in time to miss a big storm, we teed off for nine holes and then all sat together outside on the patio for lovely opening dinner at the Clubhouse. This was after checking into the resort where you are welcomed with the question of dark or milk chocolate before getting your free Hershey chocolate bar.
On Saturday, as part of the package, we all played 18 holes on the East course – a very open and forgiving course. It was so open, hardly anyone even lost a ball. Kudos to Dana and Jared for driving up just for golf on Saturday. Then, the group had the afternoon to just relax and take in the amenities at the historic, five-star resort and in the town. I personally treated myself and did the Hershey spa to enjoy chocolate bath, massage, and hydrating wrap while others took in Chocolate World, checked out the gardens, or played in the “chocolate bingo.” You may be seeing a theme in Hershey!
Most of the group enjoyed the reserved Wine Room for dinner and then capped off the night at the lounge testing the different chocolate cocktails.
On Sunday, we had a few early risers join for short-game clinic at the Country Club before finishing with golf on the challenging, championship West Course.
After playing nice rounds of golf with friends and enjoying the beautiful resort, I think everyone left more relaxed and with bags of chocolate for gifts.
